A few weeks ago he's the best kid in world football, now he's not signing he's **** and we should sell
His shooting isn't the best but then he's not a striker anyway. He's 20 years old, it'll come in time. I actually think it's his decision making anyway, when he has no time and it's just instinctive like the Chelsea one in the league cup he does well but when he has time to ponder where to put it or what to do he invariable ****s it up.
He might be worth 150k in a year or two but certainly not now. Someone else more well off will pay it if we don't though so we'll probably have to sell.

I guess a general dip in form has coincided with that time line, but still, I don't think anyone had suggested he's ****. But the question of whether he's great or not isn't necessarily at odd with the idea of selling him for the right price. I think he's ace, but is he or will he be £50m of ace? I like to be optimistic about our ability to spend money well (although it's not easy to be) and the chance to invest in the whole squad at the expense of him is worth considering.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

As it stands our ability to spend money well is still highly questionable IMO. Sakho, Coutinho and Sturridge- Success. Can defo has it too. Markovic and Moreno who knows but they have time. Lallana is a good player, not worth what we paid. That's about it really and for a while the manager thought Sakho was **** and his ideal replacement for him was Lovren. All kinds of **** wrong there.
I'd rather do what we can to hang on to a player like Sterling then gamble on getting a big fee and spending that money well, especially if we are back out of the CL again which adds further doubts about our abilities to attract the elite players out there but we may have little choice.

The opposition was poor but sterling was dribbling and commiting players last night.
I think the way we set up under Rodgers is to the detriment of our attacking players. It involves constant pressing that doesn't suit most of the attacking players on our books. It also means that because players are having to work their arses off they are too tired when they get the ball. We have Lambert and balotelli who are strikers that will score goals. They know how to find the net. Yet in our various setups this season they have looked pretty awful at times. Sterling just doesn't take people on for us. He should be ripping the league up with his pace and strength. We rarely create clear openings despite setting up with so many attacking players. There doesn't seem to be any clear plan, its almost a case of these lads have talent, work hard, close down and then see if you can score out of nothing. Sturridge with his injury record should get out of this system to prolong his career. The constant closing down must be having a detrimental effect on his glass like body. With a never get injured magician like Suarez its great.
Without the need to go long, what is wrong with wide players taking their man on the outside, whipping in good quality crosses for the likes of Lambert to score from? I refuse to believe that Lambert has gone from a good player to complete **** overnight. He and the others need clear chances created by others. If we intend to continue as we are, we must get the right players in and bin the others.Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde

Whilst I think the best role for Sterling is as part of the duo behind the striker, I do think that he should be able to do an effective job at RWB against certain opposition from time to time and by that I mean against teams against whom we will have most of the ball and who we will pin back for large amounts of a game.
Good point about Lambert and maybe Balotelli also. Lambert showed at Southampton how effective he can be in a team that likes to press, as long as he is not expected to have the legs to track back into his own half after players. Tell him to make himself open as an outlet for quicker players and he will excel as a link man, tell him to stay in attacking positions and he will get goals and assists. But expect him to have the legs/pace to follow players around the pitch in an attempt top harry them and all you end up with is him badly out of position when we get the ball back.
One thing that I think we have done very badly in relation to Lambert and Balotelli is play them in the lone striker role more often than we have partnered them with a mobile strike partner.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

I think people have short memories. I reckon Sterling has attempted nearly as many dribbles as Hazard whilst in a Liverpool shirt this season and often looks our most dangerous player going forward. If anything, Sterling needs to work on his shooting and his decision making - the rest of this game is developing nicely.Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View PostThe opposition was poor but sterling was dribbling and commiting players last night.

Where we restrict Sterling's game is where he is shunted out wide. The defensive shift required from him is alien and you can almost see him dwelling on whether to stick or twist.

@MailSport: STERLING SHOCK: Liverpool star ready to reject huge new £180,000-a-week deal http://t.co/IC1IM7vDrv
@RorySmithTimes: In fact, Sterling is now so good at turning down contracts he appears to be rejecting them before they've been offered.
@0Gibbs: @RorySmithTimes are you suggesting this story is completely fabricated? #slownewsday
@RorySmithTimes: @0Gibbs Nope. Not doubting the truth of it at all.RIP IRWT
