The question is do you take the money or risk losing him on a free.
We could try sorting his head out, but for that to work he need him to get a different agent, which he may not be willing to do.
That would be £30m minus the 20% that would be owed to QPR.
So that gives us £24m and maybe less if Sterling tried to get a loyalty pay off if he did not hand in a transfer request.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Fine him whatever the loyalty bonus was for being disloyal during the unauthorised BBC interview.Originally posted by Jaco_Pastorious View PostThat would be £30m minus the 20% that would be owed to QPR.

Was it "Mr. Sturridge"?Originally posted by meffin View Posthttp://gfycat.com/SparklingIcyAmericanalligator
Wonder what he said about Sterling- look at his reaction
Anyway it's funny as **** how Lallana, Rooney and him all casually laugh about it while Sterling looks really pissed off.

Losing 65k a week should help him with that.Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View PostOn current form I can't see anyone bidding more than £30m. I can't see us selling for that. Therefore he stays. Just needs to sort his head out. Those that hid Anne Frank were breaking the law.

Oooo, a bit like the merchant of venice. Which 20% of the player would it be? I mean if we were getting Feleini in p/xc we could just chop his hair off, but say we get Nasri or Silva, how do we do that!?! Not sure you could squeeze 20% out of toenails, wisdom teeth, appendix and tonsils?Originally posted by Gazzla View PostIf we accepted a player plus cash deal, would the 20% sell clause on that QPR are entitled to only be on the monetary element or would we have to give them a percentage of the players perceived value as part of the deal?"that is my opinion and that is more important than what anyone else has to say about it" - Mr A.Fergusson, Oct 2011

I read something the other day that took into account his low wages now and the amount we'd pay over the two years remaining on his contract, vs the wages we'd have to pay his replacement and the absolute minimum we could accept to break even was £30m. Anything less than £30m and we're actually at a loss, so it would need to be significantly more than that to be worth consideringI saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"

I saw that too, but how does that work out? If we keep him on the current contract for two years we are saving 7.8 million (given that we value him at 100k) but we might not get the best out him.Originally posted by Fierce View PostI read something the other day that took into account his low wages now and the amount we'd pay over the two years remaining on his contract, vs the wages we'd have to pay his replacement and the absolute minimum we could accept to break even was £30m. So that's 7.8 million that we are saving and then lose him on a free if he goes abroad or get maybe 5-10 million from a tribunal. That's 12.8-17.8 million we save and recoup if he doesn't go abroad, if he goes abroad we are saving only the 7.8 million.
Let's say we sell him now for 30 million we receive 24 million after paying QPR, and our accounting profit would be quite good since we signed him for about 5 million and he signed a new contract a year or two ago. Ah yes the replacement, we'd need to buy a replacement, or give Markovic and Ibe more games.* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Not sure about those sums tbh.
£35k/week = £1.8mil yr
100k/week = £5.2mil/yr
So a total wage saving of £6.8mil
Probable fee from Tribunal, assuming he stays in the UK £5-8mil (max)
Assuming QPR get 20% we need £18.5mil now for to get the same monetary outcome as letting him leave for "free" to a EPL club. If he goes abroad the compo' will be much less.
Or get circa £40mil now and buy a striker, allowing Ibe, Markovic and Lallana to step up in the wide attacking areas. I'm not a fan of the idea of letting him rot, other than it being counter-productive, i'm not sure it would help our recruitment to be seen as that sort of club."that is my opinion and that is more important than what anyone else has to say about it" - Mr A.Fergusson, Oct 2011

Well that would also be dependent on what wages his replacement would be on, and the length of the replacement's contract etc.
An added difference maker on that front from this summer is the wages saved on Gerrard, and Johnson.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

You decide wheather you believe it!
But I think we could get a surprisingly high compo from a PL club but if he goes abroad it wont really matter. I agree with the last bit, I believe in us providing a good environment, players might think this is not a workplace for me.* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.
