We've been very much in transition for an age and he's had a pretty serious injury himself which surely exonerates him to some extent.
What has any of this got to do with his performances? Just because he's not surrounded by better players doesn't mean he can't pick out the right pass....

This. He's proven his worth. However if he can't shake this off soon he can have no issues if he's shipped out cos he's just not performing.

there's nothing wrong with henderson when he's fit. why are people getting on his back - there were plenty more who were much worse than him yesterday. the lad never stopped running and he injured.

Has he? Wow that was quick and must have passed me by.

He's done **** all bar one good season where Suarez and Sturridge carried the team. Before that he was wank and after he's been wank too. If you're **** for 4 seasons and good for 1, what does that tell you?

I think it will be much easier to move forward and improve once people come to terms with that

This is the first honest assessment and I totally agree. I like Henderson, the lad puts in a shift but he is average at best.

Like maxi said ''4 seasons and good for 1''. He is not a leader and the captaincy should be taken away from him at the seasons end, and given to some one like Lucas. Now he'd make a fantastic captain. I.M.O

He's a perfect player in a 4-3-3. In a 4-2-3-1, there isn't a role for him in my opinion. He'd be a decent squaddie next season, provided we bring in specialists, as he can do some of the things required for one of the two midfield spots, but he isn't great at any of them.

are we forgetting he was our penalty taker last season when gerrard was out or when mario robbed the ball

I honestly think taking the armband off him would benefit everyone. It's fairly clear he's trying too hard to live up to the role and it's been detrimental on his game.

Henderson could be a good player for us if he concentrates on being himself. He was excellent and after his City sending off his energy was missed during the title run-in of a few season ago. But he was surrounded by quality players (Gerrard, Coutinho, Suarez, Sturridge) however they needed him just as much as he needed them. The top players needed his energy and legs, he was constantly putting himself about and recycling the ball.

I have no doubt that he still has a big future at the club, but he isn't ever going to be a world class player - just a vital player in a world class team (providing we sign the right players).

we have a squad full of functional cogs. No real 2-3 talented players or leaders. I dont like the way we have our midfield set under so far under Klopp but is Hendersons current role so much different to that in the diamond when he played his best football

Exactly that. With Henderson, Milner and Can in the centre of the park there isn't much creativity. They're all fairly similar players. Work hard, give the ball simple which doesn't help us.

Teams know that Henderson, Milner and Can won't be able to play a 30 yard defense splitting ball like Gerrard or Alonso used to or a cross field 60 yarder on the counter attack. We lack a different option and it allows teams to press on us because we're not likely to pop the ball into the channels.

I think Klopp is being intentional in his stubbornness to revert to a 4-4-2 diamond, or a 4-3-3 in the short term, because he doesn't want to use that long term.

I think he's playing 4-2-3-1, and seeing who can fit into system, and whether they'd be starters or squad players.

This means more tactical work can be done for those who are new coming in, with the help of the players already here.
