Never in doubt, get him on the pitch now. Were back baby.
    *Except Michael, who died.

Seems a bit of a heart over head decision? Increasing already high wages for a player whose availability and playing time is on the wane.

Glad it's resolved though and very glad Klopp got his way on this one.

It's essentially a one year extension.

With an option on a 4th year. The main thing is he doesn't want to leave, and we don't want him to leave. I am more than happy to see him run that contract down.

I like the continuity in supporting the same guys more or less year after year, and hate the part of football that commoditises the loyalty of players within their football careers. I understand the practicalities in it, but it leaves me cold.

He's 100% available for the team though and that's what we're buying. He's a talisman and a great leader - you don't always need them on the pitch but you need them in the team.

I'm actually surprised how much negativity I've seen around Henderson as a player from Liverpool fans lately (mainly on Twitter).

For me we only have one certain starter in midfield and that's Fabinho, who is the best player in his position in the world. After that Henderson is probably still next in line as a certain starter along with Thiago. The rest are fighting for a place on a game by game basis.

The way I've seen people talk you'd think he was already past his best, but I've definitely not seen any signs of that. I've also seen people say he's always injured too, which is nonsense as his injury record is actually very good.

The final point is about him as a captain, a leader and an inspirational person. He's exceptionally good in that regard and a wonderful captain. Having players like him and Milner around is absolutely crucial if we want to continue to be successful.

I think he's another Milner who will still be near his best in his mid thirties and even if he's not a starter for us at that stage, he'll still be someone you'd be blessed to have around your squad.

Yea absolutely, he's a great player, pundits and fans typecast him for his athleticism but he's technically improved massively over the years and the teams counter press from midfield looks far better with him in the side.

Nobody bullies him either, his physicality is a bonus.

For what Klopp wants out of his midfielders, Hendo and Milner cover a lot of attributes. Would be great if Henderson can match Milner's longevity but not sure he will, only because it's so rare to find a CM like him who is still performing at such a high level well into his mid 30s

I think supporters sometimes just want shiny new things.

From my point of view, Hendo has been pivotal to our success. He sets the standards. When he is fit he is so crucial to us playing well. He understand the system better than any other player in the team.

Cant wait to see the Fab/Hendo/Thiago midfield in front of VVD and Joel.

                    SOLID.

The only thing I disagree with this his is longevity compared to Milner, who is a total freak of nature.

Still, delighted when he signs and he is an inspirational captain.

By no means always injured, but to say his injury record is very good is being kind. He’s missed almost a third of our league games over the last 2 seasons through injury. The worry is that’s not going to improve as he gets into his 30s.

I’m all for having heads like Milner and Henderson around, but I don’t think that it should be necessary for them to continue to be among the top tier earners as they enter the phase of their careers when their playing time naturally recedes.

Milner is a naturally fit lad, but he also looks after himself. I have no doubt being teetotal has helped prolong his career.

That's why I don't get all the fuss about Mo and Mane approaching the twilight of their careers (to put it generously). The condition they are in should allow them to play well into their 30's and for that reason they shouldn't be compared to most early 30's players of recent generations. Injuries permitting of course.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I’m not going to say anything about the whys and wherefores relating to his contract but I will say that I’m always more confident of us getting a result when hendo is in the midfield. This also isn’t a recent revelation for me, I’m convinced that we would have won the league under Brendog had he not got sent off against city. We will miss him when he’s gone.

Agree Milner is a freak, no doubt about that! However, I think Henderson also takes care of himself extremely well and assuming injuries don't impact him too much I think he will age pretty well. We'll see.

                                Henderson:

                                Milner:

I honestly don't see a problem with Henderson's injury record. Not everyone is Luis Suarez.
