3 nil up 2 minutes from time then send Carra on but until the tie is won and dead we've got to play our best 11 and he's not part of it anymore.

Just watched Gary Cahill and David Luiz get torn to shreds by Napoli, makes you appreciate skrtel and agger even more! Seriously reckon our defense is as good as any in the league, it's our biggest asset by a mile!

Won't get recognised in the team of the season awards though.

I can't remember any of that. Fair enough.

i heard in mentioned I think it was on Alun's excellent recent podcast that a lot of Skirtels return to form is down to Steve Clarke and his coaching, not only do we have the best defense or thereabouts we have had the least amount of shots on target by the opposition ... great teams are built on not solid defense, get that right and it gives you the platform to be expansive

I think another big factor is playing a run of games. I for one think his improvement was there to see a lot of the time last season even if the team around him at times was not performing. No doubt Clarke has had a big impact on us as a defensive unit (my only worry now is how exposed we look if no one plays the holding role).

A few seasons ago he looked like he had the potential to be the player he is now, he had probably 18 months looking off the boil for verious reasons. Superb partnership we've got at the moment.

I think the other think is that Skrtel is a right sided centre back (which is where he's playing at the moment). Previously he has been partnered by Carragher who is also a right sided centre back, meaning Skrtel has played his less favoured left sided position.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Who knows what his favourite side is? He started off as a left winger apparently (well according to Wiki)
