His knee could cave in after 15 minutes and we'd be really short of cover again. I'd be pretty reluctant to let Skrtel leave at all to be honest.

The thing is, Skrtel didn't play last year from around Christmas, so it's not a huge loss to the starting 11. I'd be fine with it as long as we got Papa in.

That would be good, but I guess you run the risk of Skrtel's value dropping quite a bit if he never plays.

Rafa has played a blinder, he has £50M burning a hole in his pocket and some how convinces us to loan him a couple of players. If you want Skrtel, buy him and have done with it.

This must mean that the Papa deal is all but done

The only reason to keep Skrtel is because we'll be very thin on cover.

We must have one or two CBs ready to sign otherwise we're taking an almighty gamble with Agger's fitness and Toure's ability.

I totally agree

We would be stupid to take a gamble with pretty much any replacement, as we can't guarantee that they'd adapt to the team or PL.

Skrtel didn't have a great season, but he can still do a decent job. If the replacement were to fit in and play well, I'd rather sell Skrtel for a reduced price than potentially be short.

The only other option is to have the ability to recall Skrtel at any time.
