Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

Collymore was proven to be one of the best strikers in the PL and a great signing. Could've and should've been one of the best in the world but sadly it never happened.

                        ****ing great signing though.

                            Collymore could have been brilliant.

Just a shame he was a headcase. Reminds me a little bit of Ballotelli, in a way.

Was well happy when we signed him. Remember his debut against Sheff Weds, I caught the hightlights of the game on holiday.

He picked the ball off up Redknapp I think, turned their defender or midfielder inside-out and curled a lovely ball in with his left foot from outside the box.

Retired at about 30 or 31 didn't he?! Such a waste.

Brendan Rodgers warns Liverpool players to forge winning mentality or face Anfield exit

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has warned his inconsistent Liverpool players that they face being moved on unless they show the winning mentality required to play for the club.

Rodgers is frustrated with his team’s inability to string a consistent run of wins together and he will adopt a more hard-line approach in 2013, although he fears it could take time to get rid of certain individuals because of their lavish contracts.

“It’s not easily solved,” Rodgers said ahead of Liverpool’s game at bottom club Queens Park Rangers on Sunday.

“It’s not like other sports where you can just tell someone ‘that’s it’ and show them the door and they’re gone. This is a club that pays big money. I’m not saying that about anyone in particular, but it takes that bit of time.”

Rodgers has demonstrated patience during the first 19 league games of his Anfield reign. Liverpool head for Loftus Road having lost as many games as they have won, and the deflating 3-1 defeat at Stoke City on Wednesday has left the manager angered at his team’s inconsistent run of form.

They have managed back-to-back league wins only once, against Southampton and West Ham United this month. Yet it is his *players’ ability to defeat Fulham 4-0 and then lose without putting up a fight at Stoke a few days later that has left Rodgers perplexed.

“To play for a club like this there are certain requirements you need,” Rodgers said. “They are not just technical and tactical requirements. You can’t have a good match for Liverpool and then three days later have a poor game. This is Liverpool. This is every game of your life.

“You play well on Saturday and then you have to play well in the next game. Then three days later you have to be at the top of your game again. You have to do that for years because that’s why you are at a big club. The table doesn’t lie. We are in 10th position.

“We’ve shown against many of the top teams that we have the game to compete. Against some of the other teams we have shown wonderful demonstrations.

“But it has to be efficient and consistent. That’s the single biggest word. We have boys that want to come in and work every day, but it has to be consistent.”

Chelsea’s Daniel Sturridge and Thomas Ince of Blackpool are due to move to Liverpool during the January transfer window. Rodgers is also trying to bring in an additional player before February, but he has warned that Liverpool’s problems will not be solved overnight.
“We certainly won’t be able to do everything in January that we want to do, but we hope to help the group,” Rodgers said. “There are lots of names that we are being linked with, but the truth is there are very few players we have enquired about.

“We need a bit more experience but we certainly won’t be spending a great deal of money in January.”

Tbf that's pretty honest - no sense in buttering up where we are - we just need to be patient & get rid of the deadwood like Downing
