I have not heard too many actually calling for his head but there are a lot of doubters out there

Yeah, not after every game. Sorry, thought you were saying we should review him after 2 years only.

I'd start worrying if at this stage next year we have not progressed in terms of consistency of results.
          Are we winning?

52 points is the marker imo.

            We can't get below that.

You're the dumb **** because you're totally taking my posts out of context and using them to have a dig. Pisses me off no end and it's indeed revisionism.

              I'm out of this place.

Thats 21 points from the last 16 games. Totally doable.

                  I know.

We just need to do it. As long as we get more points than last season its progress.

                    That's simplistic at best.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

I want to see progress in the 2nd half of this season, last 19 games where we are 5th or so in points taken over that period.

That to me would show some progress from the back half of last season and the first half of this season. It was always going to take time but there does appear to be some structure in terms of how we want to play and the type of players we want to bring in to evolve the squad into how BR wants us to play.

Football is a very simple game complicated by morons.

                        That wasn't directed at you.

                          None taken.

Maybe so, but there's no way the points total is the sole criterion of progress. For instance it's possible we could have fewer points but be higher in the table, or the other way round. So is that progression on regression?

And then there's things that aren't so easily quantifiable like improvement in the squad, and so on. Plus the other issues to do with value, average age, effectiveness, etc.

Football may be a simple game - in practice I'm not really sure it is any more at the highest level but let's leave that - but it's not a question of picking one yardstick and using that to measure everything.

We can reduce anything to its essentials but such descriptions rarely encompass everything we need, they just tell us why. Apollo 11 was a vehicle for getting people to the Moon but that doesn't help us understand how it worked.

I was amazed to hear that utd have their biggest points tally at this stage of the season ever, and with a team many say isn't anywhere near their best ever.

We need to see tangible progress in the league. Even one more point than last season would be proof of that.

Five to eight more would be conclusive.

Yep. Just goes to show how piss weak the league is.
