It's highly possible that none of the £120m we spent in the summer is a waste. They could ALL come good yet. Certainly good signs for the majority. Thankfully there is still plenty of time to go. It would make a few on here look foolish..... for a change.

Not quite sure if that's the focus of the main angst on here - sure they all might come good eventually but I'd have preferred buying at least a couple of senior players to come in & hit the ground running to push for at least fourth

I'm not bothered about fourth being the target, its doesnt interest me personally, challenging for the league last year was better than anything arsenal have achieved over the last ten years. I wanted another title charge however unlikely that was, if we finish 4th and win a cup then its been a decent season. It could stand us in good stead for next season, if we go on and finish strongly.

We all, including the manager wanted first team players, but when you see how much they cost, we've spent pretty well with the only exceptions being lovren and balotelli, the former was one of those first teamers we wanted let's not forget. Let's be honest this league is all about attack, if we could spend £50m+ we could get a player that would make all the difference, though it would probably cost more than that.

Hence why I said 'at least fourth' Bob - sure we'd all want us challenging for the title but after selling our star player I think most would accept this as a season to regroup

For me, he still needs to show that he can set up a defence properly. He needs to do that on a consistent basis between now and the end of the season.....because if he goes back to FSG and says that he needs money for another defender because either Lovren or Sakho are not good enough.....then that shouldn't wash.

I just really feel that we'd be just as effective defensively with Coates as we would be with Lovren.

And to be honest BR is pretty lucky that Lucas didn't leave in the summer as well......because the team looks so much more solid with him in the team....

At the moment Rodgers just needs to focus on beating the teams we come up against and that's that. It's a tough period at Xmas and if we can make it 9 points from 9 today I think that goes a long way to having added a bit of light to our season.

Going forwards, it will be interesting to see how we cope when we are playing on the weekend as well as having a game midweek. Our game is focused on high pressing once again and it's hard to out run teams who only play once a week.

Rodgers will have to be really clever when rotating the squad to keep the freshness. In reality, that's when our fate will be decided, even if this revival continues. I think in the league, only Tottenham's fixture list compares to ours as they too are still in all competitions.

Arsenal, Everton, and Man City would only be the league cup games less than us.
