And James Pearce of the echo said it as well.

Whatever we think about how it should work, its clear it isn't working. There's and us and them mentality about signings and until everyone is on the same page we will continue to throw tens of millions down the toilet.

Ian graham too is on that committee and has a very big say in what is decided.

And that's the point as a collective it might not be working and as I said they should receive praise as a collective and criticism in the same way not picking individuals out of something thst is very much a group approach

          But but but.....

If your team wins the league, no one bothers to produce a list of individual signings that did not work but I suspect teams like Chelsea and Man City waste just as much as we have. It is just a smaller % of their total budget. Buying players that fit in seems more than ever before to be hit and miss.

Not a bashing of Ayre. Good at revenue generation. But again his previous football experience was at Huddersfield who, I believe, almost or did go bankrupt. Has his uses but not as a Chief Exec or deciding on players to buy.

Very little experience in the coaching staff and manager. Something you need a lot of when things arent going well.

For a club of Liverpool's size I dont think they have enough high calibre, quality people in the key positions
Paisley had 4 years as reserve team manager under his belt when Shankley made him his assistant, Dalglish has no seasons when appointed manager and... Hodgson had 36 years worth of experience. I'd take less experienced everytime on that basis.

And with Ayre nobody knows the rules that he's working under as an FSG employee but given that revenue is up and we've just received planning permission for a new stadium development (that looks like it may actually happen in real life too) during his time as a chief executive then I'd say he's doing ok.
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

                Different time, different era mate.

We had the greatest footballing setup from the owners down to scouting. We had pioneers who advanced every aspect of football - scouting, fitness, raising resources - working together, pulling together with one mission - to win. It was a very unique setup which I think we will never recreate. We had assistant managers with the pedigree to win European championships on their own. When King Kenny became the boss he has Paisley for advise and access to this entire setup and access to money comparable with the top clubs in England o fix problems when they arose.

I guess time will only tell how much talent Ayre, Pascoe, and Mike Marsh have. However, the lack of footballing pedigree and connections among our footballing staff will be a cause for concern until they start providing evidence that they can hack it at the highest level by winning stuff. Until that happens, concerns will arise whenever we stumble.

Don't care who he would've signed. If it failed, sack him & get someone else in.
