I think a lot of us said, many of our signings when you look at them in isolation look good players, good long term investments - Lallana, Can, Markovic, Moreno, Manquillo - it was just that we punted on too many prospects in one go and didn't get enough established quality for now. I'm pretty excited about where this crop of young players can go, and Can looks nailed on quality.Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’Comment

He looks very, very composed, something our defence badly needs. A really elegant style. Would be good to see him eventually getting more game time in midfield.Modifying post.Comment

He's not a CB and I don't think he ever will be.
IMO he will make mistakes if he played out the season there, but I don't think that'll happen. But regardless, putting him at CB was a master stroke. His ability to bring the ball out from the back was like Danny Agger in his pomp and was why I crazily suggested the idea of Gerrard playing CB, it just makes our team look so much better.
It was what Lovren was bought for IMO, as I've already said elsewhere.

I think the club's idea is that he is Gerrard's long term replacement. Not like for like obviously but he's gonna be a powerhouse CM in the not too distant future.Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’Comment

This may be true but it would be a bad idea for us to build him up like that. Too much pressure and Gerrard is a one in a million player. Can could be a dynamic player for us but probably still won't come anywhere near Gerrard's levelOriginally posted by Shaggy View PostComment

Really liked him from the start, out of all the summer signings with potential he's the one I really looked forward to seeing more of. Every minute he's played he's shown something. He has every chance going forward.Comment

I think it's more to take his place in the starting line up. And taking the place of this Gerrard in the team isn't a massive issue. When we lost Alonso and signed Aquilani - major issues. When we lost Suarez and signed Balotelli - oh dear. If Gerrard was to go end of this season and Can was the starter first day of next season - Not such an issue.Originally posted by -V- View Post
