I haven't quite written him off yet, although I'm genuinely concerned and just think he's a terrible stylistic fit for us.

Also from memory, most people slagged Cisse off (he showed a lot more than Carroll too prior to his injury) I remember almost getting myself into a state of denial to convince myself that Cisse was a great player. He was tripe, being a Liverpool supporter or not doesn't change that. If people think that Carroll, like Cisse is beyond hope I don't really understand what the problem is, they wish him the best on the pitch.
You don't see what's wrong with LFC fans saying AC is beyond hope, often publically, on radio shows, etc etc, or is it just on forums ?

Not going to help AC that is it.

He has enough pressure is my point, last thing needs is to hear LFC fans have given up on him. imo.

I desperately want him to do well and I hope he does go on to prove me wrong.

The £35m has been and gone now so I agree that it's not worth harping on about; I think a majority of us are just worried that he won't cut the mustard. He needs a run of games though - get him starting for the next five or six matches and see what he can do.

i couldn't find anything about that, but i did find this:

it could be he's emotionally not ready to play matches for us yet. maybe the best thing we can do is bring in a striker for now, and allow him time to develop outside the spotlight. if carroll disappears from view for a year or two and returns in rude health, that'll do me just fine.
        It was me.
He looked really sad on the telly. He clearly thinks too much and worries. A couple of goals might do the trick but I'm still not sure he's good enough. I really hope he succeeds.

Part and parcel of being a footballer.

The same people had similar tirades against other players, like Dossena for example and no one battered an eyelid. Why should Carroll get better treatment?

do people seriously think we bought the big man because of his form in the championship and less than half a season in the prem, I think/hope we may be a bit more extensive than that

Poulsen didn't buy himself or set his own price, but I seem to recall he was near universally criticised and mocked, and by some of the people complaining about criticism of AC in this thread.

And Poulsen was a better footballer than Andy Carroll

There was also lots of upset about the £10m spunked on him & Konk, not to mention Aquilani's £17m or whatever.
                      3rd place. Worst champions ever.

The problem as I see it isn't with Andy Carroll it's with the supporters and their unrealistic expectations of him.
Unrealistic because we spent 35m on him which he isn't worth but that isn't his fault.
For me he is doing what he was bought to do, he is working hard, winning his headers, holding the ball up, bringing others into play, winning knock downs.

What he isn't doing is playing regularly week in week out, I think it's safe to say that Kenny picks the best team for that game, he doesn't pick on previous performances otherwise Maxi would be a regular. So Carroll is being left out for tactical reason (in the main)
He would have been used to playing every week at Newcastle, maybe going 3 games without a goal but then netting 2 in a game to give him 2 in 4 games so the stats/ratios look good.

There is no doubt he could be doing better, but so could everyone else, Downing has hit the bar/post 3 times and others have missed easy chances from his crosses so he could be sat on 3 goals and 5 assists (for example)

For 35m some fans expect more than they are ever going to get from Carroll because he isn't going to be full of trickery like Suarez.
Carroll needs the time to get used to Liverpool, our expectations as a football club and the rotation/use of a bigger squad.

I thought he played well against Fulham, did well as a sub against City, played well away to Chelsea, the performances are there/getting there.

Carroll is the symbol of Liverpool FC at this moment, both he and the club just need more time.

The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

Guess it's about who bough Carroll, an the understandable desire to defend Kenny's decisions. People didn't want Roys signings to do well and were prepared to sacrifice their principled stance.

I am just not seeing what you are seeing in Carroll Birdman, I don't think he is really having any positive effect on our play and for most of his time on the pitch against Fulham he may as well not have been there.

He is weak in the air, he is positionally awful and he is not good on with the ball at his feet.

The problem is not the expectation, but Carroll's lack of ability and game intelligence.

Have to disagree with that. Carrolls problems have nothing to do with fans expectations. Also, he was bought to score goals, which isn't happening.
