So we're comparing playing in the Championship to playing for Liverpool? I know he's a young player and that's a promising thing to look at, but still that provides nothing to confirm he'll be able to replicate things here.

I don't see what scouting has to do with anything. Everyone scouts young players with potential. Bobby Zamora used to be the highlight of the lower leagues. Should we sign him now just because he was scouted a lot by everyone?

Rafa was scouting Babel since he was 16 or something. Should we sign him back, then? You're using highly flawed logic.

I would love to see Carroll do well but putting it simply, he has been atrocious. Whether or not he can turn things around remains to be seen, but it's been nearly a year and as it stands we might as well have got that money and burned it.

The signing was a mistake on so many levels.

"Atrocious" my arse. Nobody would be calling him atrocious if he cost £10m.

People judging on the transfer fee, pure and simple.

Not for me. Its irrespective. He hasn't been good enough and in no way do I base that on the fee! Don't tell me what I think!

Can't take the rolling eye smiley seriously with its hat

I agree though Craig, £15 Million less and no-one would be batting an eyelid, probably complaining more about Downing, or Henderson.

We overpaid yes, but we cant change that now. We should judge his performances, not judge the fee.

Its so boring this "its only the value" pigeonhole. I wouldn't care if he had been signed n a bosman, he hasn't shown enough to warrant a place in the first eleven. Same as Voronin, same as N'gog.

Yeah, Carroll's the 'same' as Voronin and N'Gog....

                      An underperforming striker

For me, the fee has gone, the money was paid, its not my cash or my overdraft, so why would I give a **** about how much FSG paid for him?

I'm disappointed that our marquee striker, our big name player, isn't currently fit for purpose. That would be the case for me if he was a Bosman signing, or if he was a record signing. It doesn't matter a jot to me.

Neither does the bigger picture, it seems.

I do think, however we need to bring in another striker to take some off the pressure off Carroll, and indeed Suarez. Someone who can get us a goal while Carroll isn't in the best of form.

I can't buy into that. I can't operate blind faith when its obvious it isn't working.

Can't be arsed going over this again, but I don't agree that it's that simple.
