Andy Carroll - Best Striker in the World

Statistically it's very difficult to score from a cross, this is probably even more so when that's your renowned strength the defenders have been schooled as such too.Originally posted by Lecter View PostNo its not
Adam did it at Blackpool who the players he had playing upfront for him then
Joey Barton did it for Carroll last season
Gerrard did it against Newcastle the other week
Compare that with strikers who can mix it up, in his 15 minute cameo Maxi looked more likely to score through the chances and his goal scoring instinct then Carroll did in the entire match. We come not to play.

We need a striker that can create his own chances. Its all very well to say Gerrard will be able to put crosses in on a plate, now he is back. But crosses with pinpoint accuracy are probably good enough for any striker with height.
Gerrards strong point is looking for to play in through balls along the ground for a striker to run onto. I think we should be playing to his strengths, not Carrolls.
At the moment, Carroll is playing like a passenger. When he does get it, all he wants to do is lay it off. And most of the time he cant do that particularly well. He certainly cant hold it up long enough for other players to move into better positions. HE provides zero threat. We may as well play with 6 midfielders, or Maxi and Bellamy Up front, taking turns to drop deep.In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

He didn't. Its true but Carroll is just too much of a limited striker at this time and we can't rely on just crossing to get us goals. He is always going to be quite slow. He isn't technically very gifted and lacks intelligent movement. There are far better strikers out there who would be suited to our pass and move style.Originally posted by Lecter View PostMy argument is that today he got no kind of reasonable service
Anyone suggesting he got cross after excellent cross put into him today is ****ing deluded
Carroll does not strike me as the kind of striker who can latch on to a through ball by outpacing a defender and calmly slot it in the back of the net. We need an all rounder. People compared him to Shearer when he joined but I just don't see that. Shearer had so much more to his game. We need someone who is going to feed off of every scrap the likes of Suarez and Gerrard can create.

Only just seen this. Not a big deal, but Carroll's movement was so predictable and he made no room for himself to be picked out.Originally posted by Mostar View PostI uploaded it on DailyMotion.
You shouldn't have any problems see it now.

The way he protests Enrique's frustration is what I couldn't believe. As if he felt he had done enough by just running into the box.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostOnly just seen this. Not a big deal, but Carroll's movement was so predictable and he made no room for himself to be picked out.

At first I thought Enrique could have hit it to the far post but even if he had, it would require Carroll to control it and shoot with two defenders covering or produce a world class header to beat the keeper. Neither of these would have happened.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostOnly just seen this. No instead a half decent striker would do their best to get in front of the defender and score or at worst cause the defender to do something desperate and score an own goal.
With the benefit of the camera, a pass square to Gerrard(?) would also have been nice! Was muĆ, das muĆ.

Hes very selfish imoBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

You didnt see him complaining at Gerrard though when he hit him early on numerous occasions during that matchOriginally posted by acdmackay View PostThe way he protests Enrique's frustration is what I couldn't believe. As if he felt he had done enough by just running into the box.
For me Enrique was at fault in that run of play
The place where people are asking Carroll to run into is where Cabaye is running intoBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Thats fine but others in this thread have suggested that today Carroll got cross after cross that he failed to get on the end ofOriginally posted by cream View PostBut there will be a lot games where we won't be putting in cross after cross. We need a striker that can play a bit as well, especially when he'll be the only striker on the pitch.
The only ball of note for me was the one where he peeled to the back post and out-jumped Clichy and knocked it down for Kuyt
Other than that the delivery was poorBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

To be fair he was being marked by Kompany who I thought was excellentOriginally posted by BootRoom View PostA pinpoint cross onto Carroll's head or he'll get out-jumped by the mighty Gaƫl Clichy.
When he got himself one on one with Clichy (not enough imo) he out-jumped him comfortablyBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Carroll played well yesterday and got poor service. He did well the match before as well and is slowly looking to get himself right.
He has been poor for most of the season, but he should get credit when actually playing well and not just be scapegoat because Lucas and Skrtel are now doing well in our team.

I would add to that the lack of just okay crosses to him in those situations. Can't count the amount of times a cross from Enrique or Bellamy ended up hitting the first defenders of the City team.

I thought Kompany dealt with him yesterday but the delivery didnt help because it was shockingly badBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."
