Voronin - 32 goals in 92 Appearances at Bayer Leverkusen
Babel - 19 goals in 73 Appearances at Ajax

Not one of them is a natural goal-scorer.

Of them, Kuyt has probably the best record, 71 goals in 101 games at Feyenoord, but he misses far too many chances to ever be a top-class striker.
I think that's a little harsh mate - although I agree to some degree (I think I posted something very similar at the start of the summer).

I think Kuyt will be more prolific this season with a quality partner (Torres). 14 league goals is not bad in England in your debut season.

Torres - a rate of 1 goal every 2.5 games at AM (an average side) is not bad at all

Crouch 17 league goals in 2 season is poor imho (although his goals / starts ratio was good last season)

    Voronin - who knows?

If I could have had what I wanted this season it would have been Owen instead of Crouch or Voronin. But Crouch offers something different, and Voronin is an unknown quantity at the top level. If we had sorted out the wide areas, Owen would score for fun for us, but if we do that anyway I think the quartet we have won't do too badly either. The movement up front pre-season (esp Voronin) looks good.

For me, the sooner the better. We still haven't got a top class goal-scorer.

He's coming back from injury but his career is by no means over.
Owen's injuries are his career, with a scattering of goals inbetween.

His most successful season in recent years has been in Madrid where he was used sparingly, therefore he stayed fit.

If I put my personal opinions to one side, this is the only role I can envisage him playing for Liverpool or any other top side for that matter.

The only thing Michael Owen has over any of our other strikers is his instinct. He'll always work himself into a goalscoring position and he'll always take his share of chances.

Bring him on late in the game as a wildcard and let him snatch a winner.

That's all he is good for because any team that hopes to challenge for the Premiership needs a core of key players who can be relied on to remain fit and in-form.
It's not good because it's rude. It's good because it looks like it's good because it's rude.

Well that's the thing, 'not bad' isn't good enough. We need an exceptional goal-scorer if we are going to win the league, someone with a record that reads likes that of Fowler, Owen, Rush etc.

I'm happy to have any of Torres, Crouch and Kuyt playing alongside that top-class goal-scorer. I like all of them as players but none of them are particularly clinical. Kuyt has been decent but he misses ALOT of chances, and he actually only got 12 in the league. That isn't the form I'd expect from our best striker.

Without goals coming from midfield in the way United have, we won't be getting near winning the league with that forward line.

I'm satisfied that you are clearly a WUM
Kuyt's goals per game ratio is as good as Owens.

That is a terrible assessment of Michael Owen.

A couple of months of fitness under his belt, which isn't impossible as alot seem to think, and he is in a different class to Crouch, Kuyt, Voronin and Babel.

We won't be challenging for the league with so-so strikers who don't score goals.

Yes, WUM, where did you expect a striker in the Dutch league to score his goals? Papua New Guinea?

But we will with a striker who guarantees long spells out of the side through injury?

                      You're getting boring now...

You are ****ing clueless aren't you.

Do I really have to explain to you that a one in two ratio in the eredivisie is not the equal of a one in two in the premiership.

I cannot believe how despised Owen has become. If we did sign him would you all hold the same opinions? I am not so sure. All I know is that when he did join the barcodes Rafa said the door was not shut on a future return to Anfield.
