        Go figure.
2004 - Owen leaves with 10 months on his contract = market value of approx £10m

2005- Owen signs for Newcastle for £16-17m 1 year into a 4 year deal having scored 13 goals in 20 starts for Real Madrid

Now go figure. Why would they sell for anything less when they didn't have to?

Owen is welcome to put club before country.

As long as his club is not Liverpool.

Which is also understandable, I reckon.
People expecting Owen to enter a game of brinkmanship with Real with such high stakes were asking ALOT of him.

Why did they sell at all seeing as he was such a success?

with great respect you are talking ****e. I admint there is a case to say that as we didnt worship him like we did god it made him feel unwanted but i suppose its chicken and egg

              Simple facts are

he let his contract run down and left. benitez didnt get rid of him at all.

HE chose not to come back when he had the chance and went to newcastle

thats why i dont like him. i have great respect for what he did for us. probably more than Robbie did. But i love Robbie (no gay revalations Please lol ) as he did it for us. (as much as any modern day player does it for the fans)

Owen at 9M is not a bargain. you keep saying if he stays injury free. he wont. he has never been injury free. its not like he has had a couple of little injuries or one big one. he has had loads of injurires.

Also owen takes a fair few games to get back to full form. not sure with Benitez rotation that he will get that chance. or you have to pick owen when he is fit and roatate the others around that

Lets face it Owen isnt a good deal. and its got nothing to do with his ability its becasue he cant stay fit. is it his fault no but its fact
Is he talking ****e because he disagrees with you?
Are you the Judean People's Front?

                Hooz

not sure if you are a WUM but you have shown his lack of loyalty in your argument. England is what was important. He didnt have to say yes to Newcastle did he. IF he sat tight and said i want to go liverpool then Madrid would have come to a deal with liverpool.

Who knows? Other than he wanted to play regularly in a WC year and had a young family and th rest of his close extended family in the UK (+ a deal to fly to training every day in Newcastle) + £100,000 per week - who knows?

More to the point, why would we have to sell Owen for any less than we should?
It's not good because it's rude. It's good because it looks like it's good because it's rude.

They still didn't have to sell though, did they? Maybe their medics saw his injuries coming?

Easy profit? Who knows! Ask someone at Real.

Real? Selling players to make money? Doesn't sound very familiar to me.

Owen was trying to orchestrate a move that would mainly benefit himself and Benitez orchestrated a move that benefitted the club. Even Stevie Wonder would have seen that, as he doesnt wear rose tinted glasses

                                Mr Spionkop

his talking ****e is not due to the fact that is a different point of view to mine

having a different view is ok

what is ****e is his blind loyalty to ST mike. look at how he left. listen to him talk about whats important to him.

he did very well for this club and should be respected for that. however how he left and subsequent move to Newcastle show what he is like.

it amazes me how this cant be seen
