Has anyone spoken to there children about this whole saga.I have 2 boys 7 and 10 and they adore Suarez. They have always been educated with regards to racism but I found this a little more challenging to make them comprehend it.
It's quite a fine line.
I am quite concerned now with them going back to school today what the other kids may say to them about Liverpool because what some other kids dads may have just flipantly told there kids.
Like it or not Liverpool fc has been tarnished.Last edited by kop-al-74; 04-01-12, 10:33 AM.-----------------------------------------------

Even if we believe he has maliciously made most of it up ? Which we seem to.Originally posted by Alex View PostI have to agree with this. Im not bothered about perception about our club. But I dont like that Suarez/LFC have not apologised. Even a token gesture would have been nice.
Don't see us apologising to someone who's done that, nor should we.Last edited by Vermilion; 04-01-12, 10:40 AM.

Fair point. But even had he been cleared his name would be tarnished.Originally posted by kop-al-74 View PostHas anyone spoken to there children about this whole saga.I have 2 boys 7 and 10 and they adore Suarez. They have always been educated with regards to racism but I found this a little more challenging to make them comprehend it.

We dont know that he has. I have always been brought up, as Im sure most have, to apologise to people if I offended them. Rightly or Wrongly.Originally posted by Vermilion View PostEven if we believe he has maliciously made most of it up ?
Club should at least do the same. They need to repair the broken relationship between the clubs too.*Except Michael, who died.

This is the right thing for us now - we need to let the whole issue die down for a couple of months. At the moment there's simply no chance of a reasonable discussion with anybody - feelings are running too high on both sides.
The papers will obviously keep asking their questions (as we saw yesterday) as they will want to continue the story to help them sell more copies. Any questions should be referred back to the statements, and left at that.

And what about Evra who started all of this apologizing for insulting Suarez and his people ? when are we going to get a statement for MUFC or Evra for that matter ... answer neverOriginally posted by Alex View PostWe dont know that he has. Our stance has been clear from the start, based on what the club believe happened, and what the club know happened, why would we change that stance now if it's what we believe.
In time, imo, this fiasco will return to haunt the english fa, the evidence now needed to prove a man guilty has massively lessened according their handling of this.Last edited by Vermilion; 04-01-12, 10:49 AM.

Evra wasn't charged by the FA and banned for 8 games. If it comes about that he was doing what is said, and then banned the same Id expect an apology from them too. Were not talking about Evra though. What he wants to do is his business. If he wants to be classless then let him.Originally posted by MrNice View PostAnd what about Evra who started all of this apologizing for insulting Suarez and his people ? when are we going to get a statement for MUFC or Evra for that matter ... answer never

I just think it would have shown something if there was an apology for the offence caused.
People don't go around not saying sorry for things if you don't think they will get an apology back. So why should the club.
I just think a little humility from all concerned is needed.*Except Michael, who died.

You don't apologise when you don't mean it, that would be pathetic, and send out all the wrong signals on your stance.
If someone falsley accused YOU, you were innocent, but found guilty by a kangaroo court, would YOU really apologise ?

Yeah. To be honest, I can see why we've gotten so defensive now, however I do feel we could have helped ourselves to have come out straight after the incident with an apology for any offence, and an explanation of how, from Suarez background, absolutely none was intended. That could have been combined with a rebutal that it was use frequently and in an offensive way. Seeing as Suarez admitted using the term "negro" that wouldn't have damaged his defence in any way, and might have calmed the situation down a bit.Originally posted by Alex View PostEvra wasn't charged by the FA and banned for 8 games. I'm still of the opinion that Evra genuinely felt insulted by what he thought was being said to him. Whether he has then exaggerated his account is another matter, but it would have been sensible to have apologised for that perceived offence at the time.I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?

Only if i truly thought i had. Whereas thre club obviously believe Evra has taken an innocent situation and made a lot out of it, knowingly.Originally posted by Alex View PostIf I upset someone unknowingly. I will apologise. Wouldn't you?
Tbh, this shows the power of the media, the amount of lfc fans that seem to be mellowing on this, even though no real evidence came to light other than what we already knew, and considering that before the verdict, many thought to charge Luis the fa must have some golden nugget of incrimnation.
Yet not one of 22 players, 11 of them team mates, not one of 3 officials, and not one behind the goal mic/camera heard or saw any of the numerous insults Suarez is alleged to have thrown, i can have it that they could ALL miss it once, but to not hear 5 or 7 of the same word is odd in the extreme.Last edited by Vermilion; 04-01-12, 11:13 AM.
