I agree with arn in that a 35m english player should hit the ground running. in january he will have been here for 12 months and the first ten months havent been good enough.

torres at 20m, alonso at 14, mascherano at 18, were all successful either immediately or within a matter of months.

I hope andy carroll turns this around but theres a chance we will buy someone to play with suarez to score goals for the team because nobody wants another season without champions league and at the moment we dont look like delivering.

we waited a long time for some players like babel and aquilani but they.just didnt deliver. sometimes they just dont.

They are top of the league and the best team in the league.

They spent a lot of money in a very short time but if you look at it long term, say the last 10 years then Man U and Chelsea have probably spent as much as them. They did in a very short time and that is why they stick out.

If we want to win the league then we must beat them. I don't want us to emulate their spending. I want us to emulate their style of play.

The movement, pace and skill they have is excellent. They spent a lot of money getting that movement, pace and skill. They clearly spent it on the right players. They do have a plan. If they sign a player then he must fit into the system. They aren't signing players just for the sake of it anymore.

Now when they have a top class squad they will "only" sign maybe two or three players a season IMO.

If you can spend as much money as them then you can run past your competitors instead of catching them step by step like we must do.

****ing hell Arn, do you not think City's ability and style of play is entirely because of how much they have spent??

Eventually they signed the right players. Having a gigantic pile of cash means that they are not encumbered by bad signings and can just go out and make more.

Of course it is but they had a plan. They wanted a team that could play the Spanish way. They bought players to fit into that system.

They saw what type of players you need. They saw the future of football.

            Excellent team building.

I think that Carroll isn't the type of striker we need and I can't see him fitting into a pass and move team playing a high tempo game.

What we need is another Suarez.

If we want to win the league then it is pace, movement and skill that we must look at. We must have that in almost every position.

Why is City top of the league and why is they scoring a lot of goals? The reasons is pace, movement and skill.

The four best clubs in the world at moment is probably Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern M and Man C.

All of them have built the squad around pace, movement and skill.

Man U for example will need buy more quick skilful players. Chelsea will also need to do it.

Pace, skill and movement is what football is all about now.
You make it sound so easy Arn! Sack Kenny and give this bloke the job!

Those 4 teams btw have far more money / appeal than us mate.

Football isn't easy when you are up against teams like City but in one way or another we must find a way beating them.

We can't spend as much money as them so we will need to find another way doing it.

We must do it step by step. The first step is getting back into the CL. The second step is getting a new stadium. Then we move on from there.

City will improve all the time. They will continue to spend big money. If we miss out on the CL again then the gap will be even bigger when next season start.

That is why a top four place this season is a must.

                      Excellent team building?

They threw money around like drunken sailors, especially on strikers until they had 3-4 they're happy with. They're now left loaning a £25m striker out to spurs. Two nearly £20m players in Santa Cruz and Jo have fell into a black hole. All the while one of their most expensive signings refuses to play and they're no worse off.

Why don't you just admit you're not going to be happy until we become a rich man's plaything. Because that's the only thing that'll bring the instant world class side you're asking for.

You really don't deserve the club you pretend to support to have any success at all, you've no patience at all. You'd be better off buying a dark blue or light blue top next season tbh.

Ps. That signature about Kenny being sacked is ****ing pathetic.

I'll regret this no doubt but what is your solution to your perceived problem then?

                          This.

Personally, I think both Arn and Truefan are very very wrong. However as long as they go about expressing their opinions appropriately and genuinely (which I believe they have been) I'll defend their right to do so, and not be subject to abuse for it. They obviously need to recognise that what they are saying does fly massively in the face of popular opinion right now and try not to be unnecessarily incendiary, however it would be appreciate if people could just prove them wrong with logical argument rather than by having a go.

You sir are as entitled to be as wrong as the next man

I think that my opinions are correct. It is interesting to note how many people are coming around to my way of thinking, and for the reasons I stated almost a year ago!

As long as other clubs like City splash the cash then we must do the same or miss out on the best players and we need the best players to sign for us and not our rivals.

I'm not happy that the transfer market look the way it is but we will have to accept it or be left behind.

Short term until we get a new stadium and our young players is ready then we must be prepared to sign at least two top class players every window. We must close the gap and that is the only way doing it.

That probably means spending £60m+ on those two players.

If for example Lucas the Lucas that play in Brazil cost £30m then we must pay that to get him or else he will strengthen one of our rivals instead.

If a top class striker cost another £30m then we must be prepared to pay that or else he will also strengthen one of our rivals.

A lot of money but that is what it cost to get a top class squad.
