when we were crap and dire, a goal down, we had urgency now we play like that knob who thinks he is good at fussball. Passes between the stick players doing sweet nothing. Pass and wait jog to the sidel wait for another pass, jog back to original position and wait.

Brendan has created a team that plays exactly like me playing my sons at FIFA. They just let me pass it about thinking I am the Barca of the virtual world, before I get to the byline, pull it back and take a weak shot that ends up in the keeper's hands. Then they tear up the other end, waltzing past my lame attempts at tackling and score.
I get the impression that Brendan would be throwing controllers across the room in much the same manner as me if he could do it in real life.
I'm **** at FIFA.

i blame the owners for not keeping clarke. did brendan say he didnt want to keep him on the teamOriginally posted by Gibbo View PostI blame Steve Clarke for our defensive mess
why would he not have kept him and had him smooth the transition. too much up his own ass

Clanhuman is absolutely on the money.Originally posted by dww View PostI haven't heard anyone say anything good about him in the last two years. I think everyone was surprised by his call up. I think it is particularly hard to rate DMs, so perhaps you are right.
If the dm does his job correctly hes the most invisible player on the pitch - get it and give it. im not certain coady has enough mobility in his locker to be a huge success as a dm and he also doesnt seem to have another gear.
Maybe a switch to centre back might be better long term.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]

Hes right. We dont create enough chances so we cant expect to win games.Originally posted by Nigey View PostThink that's harsh. We create a lot IMO. Same story as last year in short, which hasn't been addressed this season.
Gerrards probably our best finisher of chances but hes being played deeper where he cant affect the game significantly. Suso is a proper no.10 in the making but hes being played as a wide forward player where he has to cut inside into traffic every time he has the ball.
Weve no other options than to hope we can pick up some form after xmas and with some of brendans own signings.
Were all desperate to be competitive again. Weve had some good years under rafa and we want more.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]

It was steve clarke who said that initially he was told that there might be a position for him with brendan but the the hr girl called and told him he was sacked.
if rodgers wanted him he would have stayed.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]

With all due respect, that's a silly post. How many managers keep the previous assistants all on when they take over a new job? Besides, you have no idea what went on behind the scenes, whether he would ever have stayed as an assistant when a Premiership club was willing to offer him the manager's job etc, and regardless, we were **** last year while Steve Clarke was here.Originally posted by baitman View Posti blame the owners for not keeping clarke. did brendan say he didnt want to keep him on the team

Anyway, our problem right now is nothing to do with ths system, and people suggesting we change it are being enormously short sighted, as well as ignoring the fact that whatever system we play, until we can do some more business in the transfer market we still won't have anyone other than Suarez who can score goals.
Far better imo that the players who are going to be at the club going forward learn to play the way Rodgers wants so that when we do have the personnel to really implement everything properly we can hit the ground running hard. I see absolutely no reason whatsoever that with a couple of new faces who are genuine goal threats, and with the young players we have been blooding this season improving with the experience, that in the medium to long term we can't be successful. People just need to have a bit of patience.I could not dig, I dared not rob:

Mine angry and defrauded young?

i know that most new managers want to bring their backroom staff [jobs for the boys] but even a blind man would have been able to see that clarke was a very able guy, and he would have helped to steady any disturbance caused with the change in management. maybe if brendan told him he was integral to the future at LFC then maybe clarke wouldnt have considered west brom.
rodgers wants to play a certain style, fair enough. he will stick to this, come what may, even if we pass teams off the park, but cannot score...
he will bring in new faces who will hopefully fit the style. maybe the style is the issue. the players seem reluctant to penetrate the oppo goal area frequently enough to make it count, possibly they worry too much about loosing possession...
pass pass pass, just dont loose possession. we have seen how poor barca can be [relatively speaking] when messi isnt playing. there is no one to turn the passing wankfest into goals. we have suarez who will convert the odd one, but its not enough. we know we need some more players who are decent finishers so maybe things will improve. lets hope so.removing all the weak links makes us stronger

I think we might well be, especially against teams we worry about. I just suggested over in the Rodgers thread that it seems to me like and attempt by the manager to get defensive shape more like it would be with an appropriate DM given who is available to him at the minute.*Originally posted by little dave hedgehog View Postso are we switching to a back 3, at least for the time being then?"The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

maybe we could ask the mods to copy some of the Rogers thread that refers to the team set up/style of play into this threads to avoid duplicationOriginally posted by dww View PostI think we might well be, especially against teams we worry about.
