I remember then. But we aren't a big club in that sense at the moment. We can't go and sign the best players in the league like we used too.

I was also of the opinion Rodgers should've been sacked. But if we are keeping him I've complete disregard for half measures. Allow him to do his job.

Brian Kidd was already at the club when Pellegrini arrived. He was well liked and had done a good job. Fair enough he stays on. It wasn't like he was a complete outsider drafted in.

Anyhow, any ideas on who you'd like forced into our coaching team? I guess the best guesses by fans would be Sami Hyypia. Even if he did fancy dropping down to being an assistant, what makes anyone think he'd be a good one? He's done nothing in management to say he's a good coach. Was a good player but by all accounts a quiet man. I think we could do with some fire if anything.

I have literally **** all idea what any specific coach does. People were saying that Sammy Lee was just putting out cones at the end of his time with us but once he left a lot of things seemed to change. I find it quite comical how people have quite detailed opinions on someones skills seemingly based on a combination of sartorial choices and clipboard holding technique.

It has looked for a while like we have not had the right balance of ideas behind the scenes and if Rodgers is willing and able to identify the person or people we need to change that then it is a big move in the right direction.
      Agreed.

Most people seem to base Pascoes ability on him wearing shorts. I could say what I think that makes people, but I really think it's obvious.

i think you might be right......in reality we will know a lot by xmas. Lets see if the title tilt of 14 months ago coupled with the disappointing season we just had makes the group of players hungry or not....

I dont actually want us to sign that many more players. I think Milner was a good addition and we certainly need goals as well but i dont want Rodgers to have an excuse of "i had to give 6 new players time to acclimatize"...

I would like to see this season:

        1. League #1 priority.
        2. Capital One Cup and Europa League used for young players to get experience. And unwanted players in the shop window.
        3. FA Cup used as a hybrid of both of these.
        4. Brendan picks something close to his best 11 - with about 8 of those players playing every week unless they are unfit.... 3 of them rotated (the likes of Ibe, Markovic) to keep them motivated and fresher

With a good pre-season, there is no reason we can't hit the ground running and hopefully build momentum.....

I think we have to go for every competition and try and win it.

We have enough players in the squad to keep them fresh if we manage it right. You tend to play better teams on the league so of course that takes priority. The best clubs tend to do well in every competition and I think that's something we should all remember when talking about dismissing cups.

The Treble season was one of the most enjoyable seasons in memory yet people seem keen to dismiss all those three trophies now. I'd take the Europa League over 4th. But you can't prioritise, you just have to try in them all and see what happens.

Excellent news, with Marsh gone, we'll see a massive improvement next season. Can't wait.

With Hendo and Milner not being injury prone we'll have a settled midfield. I'm sure most defences would love that. Defending comes from all over the park, not just defenders though I do agree with your general point.
They are also not defensive minded at all and wont offer good enough cover likely leaving the same big gaps between midfield and defence we had last year.

I'm not sure that is true of Milner. He always seems a player who plays the role he is given. I think it will take some time to adapt to a deeper role but I'd expect him to be very good at it (I've always thought he could be an English Schweinsteiger).

Agreed. Also, I particularly enjoyed the way you made an analogy with a German to strengthen your argument with sharky.

City will spend a shot load and buy some quality players and you're dad will be happy again.

I was actually unsure if it would strengthen my case or merely highlight Milner's failure to be German.

I dont think he will be truly happy until they are back in the Championship fighting it out for players like Shaun Goater again too be honest. He isnt really a fan of this current incarnation of them.
