    Results, yes. Result, no.

I can see both pros and cons for replacing a manager mid-season, but as it stands we're mirroring our rivals for fourth. Talk of sacking Rodgers now is premature and shows how finely balanced his position currently is amongst the fan base.

Exactly - it's been said many times but there will be performance expectations on Rodgers if they're not being met he's in trouble

Calls for his head after one game are ludicrous, they backed him in the Summer and will stick with him until he's failing in their eyes

There haven't been any real calls for his head though?

Just loads of posts pointing out this is the shame ****e we saw last season. Then posts saying he will get given games it's only one defeat. Then posts saying it's the same ****e we saw last season. Etc. then people saying he will get more than one defeat, it's a new team etc.

Of course they'll swing the axe when they decide they've had enough. The problem for me is that, as stated previously by another poster, they don't know anything about soccerball.

            Yup, it most certainly is.

To be honest I find the Firmino the more puzzling signing if I'm honest I have been assuming we would play a 4-3-3 with Benteke as the central striker. For that to work you really need at least one preferably two wide forwards with pace and creativity that could work in wide areas and stretch the play, I don't see Firmino in that role and to be honest I don't think may other players we have suit those positions either. Lallana is probably the best suited all rounder but others are better at some of the particular aspects. If that is the way we want to play I don't understand why we didn't spend the £30m or so we spent on Firmino on a genuine wide forward.

I should point out I don't mean this as a slight on Firmino at all he looks to be a quality player but I don't see where he fits in. His favoured position seems to be where Coutinho plays and our best system doesn't seem to suit either of them particularly well
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Yup. And all this talk of the calendar year and incorporating results from the back end of the year to suit an argument are unnecessary in my eyes. Talk of a clean slate was rife in the summer, one defeat and the goal posts are moved.

The problem is we have a disproportionately difficult first couple of months to the season, if we drop points away at Man Utd, Arsenal, Man City, Chelsea, Everton etc that isn't wholly unexpected so even if we do well in all our home games we are in all likelihood going to be further down the table than we would like. Because of this there is more pressure on our home games if we do badly in those that is where the pressure on Rodgers will come.

We have scored two goals in four games. One a miracle strike from Coutinho and the other shouldn't have stood. Apart from a half against Arsenal we have been awful as an attacking force. This is just a continuation from last season partially hiddenby points on the board till yesterday.

I think there have been a handful. Maybe not a direct 'get out of our club' quote, but I'm sure there haven hints. Please don't make me look.

Perhaps, but people join the party late sometimes. I had to skim through five or six pages of posts to get up to speed and as the situation is not going to change for just under a fortnight, I'd suggest it's going to be repetitive for a while yet.

The thing is that he doesn't have much goodwill from the fans, he used up his credit last season. He's in a very fragile position and it will only take a few poor results and things will turn against him. One bad result against West Ham and already people are airing their disgruntlement. He should have been sacked last season, it's amazing that the owners continued to show faith in him. He's got a huge task trying to rectify all the problems and I don't believe he has the capability to do so.

Bottom line. I don't think the bar has been set all that high for Brendan. Champs League and a trophy is the minimum. Okay some good footy on the way a bonus.

I'm sure he knows the challenge that awaits - and what better way than battering Utd at OT. Get stuck into hem like the old days Least we can expect is a ferocious contest surely?

I've seen this a lot too. Do miracle strikes not count as a goal now?

We've have had the rub of the green with some things this season, but we've spent many an hour on here raging at the many things we feel hard done by, so a goal is a goal. It's about time we had some luck on the officiating front.

We've scored one less than Arsenal, Manchester United and Spurs and conceded six less than Chelsea, one less than Spurs and the same as Arsenal.

Other than Manchester City who have looked decent, no other team has looked both solid and full of goals. Seven points is seven points. We're bedding in a number of new faces and whilst we're still acquiring match fitness, it will also take game time for players to gain an understanding of each other's game. Expecting us to be firing on all attacking cylinders - when Rodgers was berated last year for his gung-ho style - is probably expecting too much.

I just don't think we have a good enough squad to make those goals. We have a lot of midtable players and will like end up at the top of the midtable in 6th or 7th.
