Thanjk you.

I bet if we looked back at the money spent having to trade as we had cancerous owners and little money beforehand, compared to the ones that have backed the current incumbent, that we made a profit from Rafa's dealings. Plus, when he left, he left a far superior squad to the one that we have now.
Case in point, 293m spent by Brendan and the transfer committee, I'd say we'd be lucky to get even, being kind a huge financial loss. The money wasted is beyond belief.....
However, not sure why Rafa was brought up in a Brendan thread........

And that's before we get onto, which of these were his and which were the transfer committees.
Not getting into a Rodgers vs Rafa thing but no matter what way you dress that up, overall that is some catalogue of mediocrity
Yeah you have to take into account money vs productivity. What did they actually do for the club in their time here. Going through that list there is only a handful of players you could pick out that could be considered a success.

If you laid most clubs' transfers out like that they'd look similarly ****.

To give some context to the tweet you quoted. The turnover of players is nothing new to the club, nor is it actually unusual in the right league now. Just look at how many players Chelsea have on loan. How many players are leaving United?
Of course, the point you went on to make was an entirely different one. That of quality, rather than quantity.
@TheTeleFootball: Brendan Rodgers backs Lovren and believes he can compete with the likes of Thiago Silva in the future. #LFC http://t.co/PlVJHfkOno
Every time I see something like that, it makes me want to see the back of Brendan a little but more.... I want him to succeed, it's just my belief that it is possible takes a spanking every time Brendan opens his mouth.
He's going all houllier on it with comparisons like that....

53 players in 5 seasons.
I'm a huge Rafa fan. But signing lots of players, many of whom don't work out, isn't a new phenomenon. By and large it comes from not being top dog, so you're constantly looking for the next big thing rather than being able to sign proven quality in every position. Some great signings in that Rafa list though, and most of the failures were at least cheap (bar Dossena, Riera, Keane and Babel - and we recouped a fair amount on a couple of those).
The two key differences between then (Rafa) and now in my opinion are a) We now have owners looking to invest for the long term rather than a quick boost and asset strip, even if they haven't quite worked out how best to go about it yet, and b) whereas in Rafa's day he had control over who we signed and it was all done to suit his system, the lines are blurred now which means we seem to be wasting money on players that are decent but are never likely to fit into the way we're currently playing (e.g. Markovic).
We need a clear strategy IMO - if we spend big it should be on proven quality, and if we sign young lads they should be players that are suited to both the premiership and the long-term philosophy of the club (i.e. to put it simply they should be able to pass a ball and not be weak as a day old baby).
