I think Borini (and Allen to an extent) was a comfort signing, we didn't have much of a scouting network in place at the time so he went for players he knew and was comfortable with. I think his January signings are more indicative of the quality of player we're looking to attract.
Just consider this ramble, should Gnasher manage, with his treacly brogue and life coach Reiki, to create a side capable of top 4 nay, winning it, would that not alert the twonks at the FA of a need to appoint a modern British manager for a sweeping change etc...?
