Aye, I shed tears over his tears, proud of it as well. A true human he is.

I was just thinking about it again yesterday, when someone posted in the Babel thread and I went back to watch highlights of the 4-2 Arsenal 2nd leg, and that BUZZ when Kuyt whacked the ball forward after one of their failed corners, perfectly into the run of Babel who ran and ran and smashed that ball past Almunia in front of the Kop and how everyone went ****ing mad and that ROAR, that buzz, haven't felt that buzz for such a long time. That CL buzz. The invincibility. We'd actually go the Nou Camp and expect to win and we did, first team to have done that since the 70s. Unbelievable moments under Rafa, unbelievable. Like the fella says, smash Real 4-0 at ours to smash United 4-1 at theirs the week after.

Rafa what a class act. Proud that he was our manager. He put us back on top in Europe.

A quite unique and incredible bond between a club, city, and foreign manager.

He got LFC, he just did, he got Liverpool and he got Scousers too.

H&G cost this club more than we'll ever know.

I'm happy with Kenny now, we've moved on as a club, but i still wonder what might have been had we got the ownership issue right first time, and were able to buy the players he identified while we were romping all over europe and able to attract them.

We were *THE* team to beat for years. Quite incredible if you think about it, especially considering the players we fielded at times. Pure terminator machine drill.

Had to happen though didn't it... cosmically, for some weird ****ing reason. Just a shame he never had the complete and unequivocal backing of the board... in the future, definitely.

Had Rafa been given 10 years (never mind twenty ****ing five) with proper owners, he'd have probably won a total of 3 European Cups and we'd be on 7.

Granted Barcelona would've been a pain in the arse but if anyone could nullify them, it was Rafa

                I enjoyed reading that.

I hope he comes back one day to LFC in some capacity but I really would like if he would be given the second chance to manage us but this time around with the proper backing.

God we were so good under him, every single team in Europe feared us, we were just missing 2 or 3 players of real quality on top of the worldclass team he built and we were there, man I hope I really hope I see him walk out onto Anfield again, I think I will shed a man tear

Those CL games were so good, such good times. Reading back at the 4-0 match report vs Real his heartbreaking. It was only three years ago.

I'm just waiting for someone to come along and tell us all we're simply imagining things and in fact his time in charge was a miserable, joyless experience full of negative tactics and home draws against crap teams.

Hated some of the stuff under Rafa but the positives faar outweigh the negs.

there were some less than impressive moments, but overall he certainly put us at a point where we were regulars in the latter stages of CL & feared across Europe.

We've said it before but under Rafa, we could've been going anywhere in Europe against anyone...and I always felt we could win. Even if the opposition were brilliant, you always knew Rafa could find a way to win. Didnt always work but then nothing is 100% in football.

Since I started supporting the club, we won the European Cup in 1984 (I was 7 at the time), numerous league titles, FA Cups etc throughout my childhood. Then it dried up. I was around 14/15 in 91/92 when it started going wrong. In my adult life, and therefore in my entire life, Rafa Benitez gave me the best times that I've experienced as a Red, and memories I'll take to the grave. Watch this and try not to feel at least a tinge of emotion.
