Didnt John Henry explain the Torres/Carroll deals sometime ago??Originally posted by Havors View PostAgain, how do you know we were given £50m in cash for Torres? You know Terry's mum or something?

It was something like Chelsea could have Torres for the cost of Andy Carroll plus £15 million
Now if Newcastle asked for the £35 million upfront (and I think Llambias has stated this semi-publicly) then I am almost certain the Torres - Chelsea deal would mirror that
How the balance £15 million would be paid is another matterBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

I'm afraid not atm.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostNo-one is gonna pay £25m for him
He was £20-25m player when we purchased him last year and if we could get £20m imo it would be good price, not that will happen.
I said the same thing and I just cannot see him being sold this window.Originally posted by JohnDoe View PostCarroll's going nowhere.

He's not performed for us as of yet but talk of selling him back to Newcastle for £15-£20M is far too soon to be doing so.
Even if we did this we'd still need to bring in 2 new strikers IMO for this Jan as Bellamy can't do it week in week out due to his knees, Kuyt is finished IMO and obv. Suarez is out for another 6 games.
Let's see how he does where we have to play him and he has to take responsibility as being the main guy up top, hopefully he'll surprise a few of us
rays:
I think we'll see more from him anyway with the return of Gerrard to the side, finally someone that can and will whip a ball into the box.

Yep, let's focus on getting a striker in to the team rather than offloading the one out-an-out striker we do haveOriginally posted by rcasemore View Post

I get the feeling a lot of fans are blaming Carroll for his poor start at our club. I prefer to blame our scouting department and everyone involved in saying that 35 million pounds are ok to use on a player who is not of world class status.
I wouldn't even do it on Football Manager for christs sake..."Justice has been done."

Don't think anyone personally dislikes Andy, it's just frustration about a number factors like the ridiculous amount of money seemingly squandered, the fact that we may miss out on CL football next season because we don't have a top class out and out striker which AC is not right now, whether this is down to form or perhaps he simply isn't good enough who knows.Originally posted by Glenn Hysen View PostI get the feeling a lot of fans are blaming Carroll for his poor start at our club.
