Not trying to sound like a smart arse but was saying what barretts now saying last week. The clubs not in a good position because of its transfer policy of buying potential/for the future. The clubs to blame just as much as sterlings ego.

I would guess we get a bit more credit from Coutinho as we pulled him from a club where he was floundering and gave him a chance.

Great, I would welcome a bidding war

@TonyBarretTimes didn't seem to be the case for Coutinho and Hendo. Reasonable contract requests.

            Tony Barrett@TonyBarretTimes

@Neednewbattery They didn't have clubs waiting with offers to buy them.

Both Couts & Hendo would have had clubs queuing up for them

There's a position for him there as Cuadrado looks **** so far.

Screw that. Rodgers needs to spend the week getting messages sent to Shawcross about how Sterling has been slagging off Shawcross' mother.

Then start Sterling and let things take their course.

Plus I would start Sterling as the player's tunnel at Stoke is beside where the away fans go.

Bigger clubs than us though offering more wages?

Not sure about that tbh, Sterling however i can see, i know others can't, but i cannot deny all the good publicity he's had and the glowing tributes from people in the game, professional football people, so i can well believe he's a wanted man.

Anyway time will tell, we'll soon see how much clubs are willing to pay, that'll tell us how much he's wanted.

But for me, if he and his agent are pushing this through, it means they have an offer in the bag.

Bet Sterling doesn't go to City though, he'll be on his way back to London imo, with a story about having knocked back an offer of better wages from City.

All the biggest most consisent clubs that have players wanting to join them willy nilly look to buy up the top young talent, and not many of the top young talent get as long as Sterling has had playing in a big team in a big league at the age he was, so he's had a better chance than many to show what he can do, i think that adds to the attraction of him for clubs looking to buy the next big thing as early as possible in their career, but with as little risk as possible, and with better judgement.

I know some don't rate him so much as others, but some of the stuff he did for us was sublime, some of his goals were superb, moving the ball with his feet to open up a shooting chance, or pacing past opponents, i know he went off the boil, but didn't the whole club tbf, but i see no reason why this lad won't improve as he gets older.

regardless of how we all feel about this situation one thing is for sure ... we are rapidly becoming a sell our best players club we need to turn things around before we become Spurs

                          Coutinho would have for sure.

Why is Aidy saying stories are blown out of proportion? Today's soundbite to the BBC, etc, came from Sterling not the club.

For the Rodgers detractors on here Suarez and Sturridge didn't just paper over Brendan's shortfallings, Raheem was made to look a world class youngster too. We need to milk that impression now while we have the chance.

Most of us can see Sterling won't be more than 6-8 PL goals per season for another few years yet, not with his technique and ego, even if he stays with us. Walcott is actually the finished version of Sterling, it took him a while too but now Walcott can do the business and is worth the salary (provided he stays fit).

If these stats are correct then Walcott has played 90 minutes once all season.

We shouldn't go anywhere near the lad, as talented as he is. We cannot afford to buy anymore injury prone players.

He's an absolute tool - he has clearly fed these stories to the press, told them about the meeting on Friday, told them Sterling will reiterate his wish to leave. Then when the papers run the story he says it's blown out of proportion. What a cunt this bloke is.
