Spurs and Harry did us more favours than we could have possibly imagined in the summer. First he weeded out, and saved us from, the soulless mercenaries: Sigurdson and Dempsey. Then he took the only player that could have strengthened manure: Dembele. All while screwing up Spurs budget and CL challenge.

      Silver lining everywhere.

and tbh our performances have deserved and easily could have got us 7 more points, so I don't think we're too far off - a couple of good buys in Jan to get us more goals (which is the reason we didn't secure those extra 7 points we deserved) and we could finish a lot higher than we expect at the moment.

As Kevin McCloud would say, he has hunkered down nicely.

I'll need your Spag Bol recipe by the way. Not sure I can find it in the cooking thread. I think it might be there though.

Take out those Europa qualifying games and his win percentage is 35%.

If it keeps fluctuating between 30-35% (as it has been doing) over the 2nd half of the season - then I'll be getting a bit twitchy.
              Hello mert.

He is having to instil a winning mentality though. We were bottoming out last season, its going to take a while to recover.

The second half of last season was relegation form. It takes time to recover from that, there's still a confidence issue now.

has he contributed with many assists?

Oh I realise that. We were 17th based on the 2nd half of last season so on that (selective) basis we've improved.

We just need to show improvement as this season progresses, that's all I'm saying. We should have won a few more games granted - luck hasn't been on our side but I thought our win percentage was improving as the season is developing and as of this point in time, it isn't.

But yeah there has been a truck load of mitigating factors that's left Rodgers trying to make the best of a bad hand.

This is the key point. He hasn't taken over a side that were getting good, decent or average results, he took over one that was in relegation form. He's so far improved us from relegation form, to mid table form. And for me, there is signs we'll kick on and improve much more, even without taking into account an influx of new signings.

I think Rodgers main problem is managing expectations. If people actually expected us to finish 6th-8th like they say, they would see we are right on course. Rodgers had a disrupted per season due to the Euro's and Olympic's and so he pretty much had zero time at the start of the season to get his ideas and methods across. We've had to learn on the job, so to speak.

We are slowly taking his ideas on board, and even without Lucas or any January signings I reckon we'd tail in about 7th. Which is okay. But in the circumstances, not an okay return, but a close to good return. With Lucas & new signings? I think we can at least run 4th place close - if we get the right players in.

                        So overall, taking into account:

                        * He took over a team in relegation form
                        * He had no pre season with the main players
                        * He got ****ed over in the transfer market by an error on the owners part
                        * And has had to steer a wafer thin squad through additional European games

I'd give him a mark of 7. Any less would indicate that I thought this squad good enough to be in the top 4. Which when compared to our rivals, we would be lucky to have the 6th best squad of players, after Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea, Spurs & Arsenal. Add the right couple of players though and I'd see us jump a place or two on that list.
                        Forwards.......

Performances are much improved, we look far more solid at the back than we did and we keep the ball a lot better. What we are struggling to do is score goals, but as evidenced under Kenny, we don't have many players who are good enough to put the ball in the net on a regular basis, especially since Kuyt, Maxi & Bellamy all ****ed off, despite Rodgers asking them to stay.

Rodgers has had to replace three goal-scorers there. Borini, Suso & Sterling seem to have replaced them in the squad. All I think will be good players in the future, but none are of the level that the players they've replaced were. I like Sterling, but a fit Bellamy is a much more dangerous player in the box. Borini is an in experienced Kuyt, whilst Suso has played wide in a front three, a place Maxi would have hammered in goals as he combines superbly with Suarez.
