you have to admire Brendans balls of steel, He knew this move would be ridiculed and it would be a lot easy to bring in Hyppia or a similar high profile name.

This guy will also make Brendog the good guy and his assistant the bad guy in the dressing room. Those that hid Anne Frank were breaking the law.
Those that killed her, were following the law.

It's an assistant manager FFS. Obviously Rodgers knows him and thinks he can help, it's his choice. They are hardly going to force him to accept who they want, them knowing nothing about football as everyone says. I swear there are so many Liverpool fans who live for the outrage. It'll be a disaster if we sign Benteke, Ings is a useless signing, not impressed by any of the young players we've signed (what's the point), why are we not signing Lacazzette or Icardi or Vietto or some other flavor of the month signing. Yet scream from the rooftops when we sign Firmino despite having never seen him play. Drama queens. Can't wait for our first defeat of the season to get back online and scream at the outrage that we lost a match.

Yup. It is either because Brendan's single minded devotion to his style of football or his insecurity in having someone with more experience at the highest level by his side. We will never know which is it.Originally posted by kev776 View PostHe sees anybody else of a higher profile as a threat.

What is the correct way to react to a loss then?Originally posted by vonk View PostCan't wait for our first defeat of the season to get back online and scream at the outrage that we lost a match.
I cannot speak for others but towards the end of last season, my mood at every loss had turned from outrage to apathy. Once the season starts and if we proceed in the same vein as last season, it will be the same reaction.Last edited by peekay; 30-06-15, 03:51 PM.

People need to untwist their panies .... most of us in reality know **** all about football, or what happens in our club or any other club for that matter, we all claim to know this about that player .. or that about this manager but truth is until we are linked with a player of a manager we are totally clueless. Take Klopp, how many the 1000s and 1000s of fans clamoring for him to join have actually ever seen one of his teams play, I bet no one can tell you who he managed before BD. People talk incessantly about Bdog doing things this way because this aspect of his personality or that, truth is, you don't know the man, you probably do not understand his tactics, you have never met a single footballer in your life, half of you have never kicked a ball, some of you have not even been to a live game ever. None of you have taking your coaching badges, most of you are out of shape. O'Driscoll has been appointed, our manager rates him very highly as do quite a lot of other people in the game, you dont get to coach the National Side my accident, otherwise you or your mate who's won the Champions Lg with watfrod on CM Manger would get asked to interview. Obviously the owners are going after young adventurous attack minded managers ..and thats AOK with me ... the season we have a few years ago, was the best fun I had as a Liverpool in an extremely long time, we were literally in the top 5 most exciting teams across europe ... I couple of signings .. one I think has already happened with Firmino ... and we can be back to that flare pacey creative goal focused team of 2 years ago ... I for one think O'Driscoll looks like a very good appointment ... I really like the look of the new coaching staffAnybody who criticizes Klopp ever is a James Blunt. Nov 2015

This often gets bandied about regarding fans and in some instances may be true but often fans have watched about 3600 minutes of their own team per year and maybe something similar on other teams, in addition to reading hundreds of articles and blogs and statistical analysis plus some of us played or coached or been involved in other ways.Originally posted by False9 View PostPeople need to untwist their panies .... most of us in reality know **** all about football
So loads of fans indeed know a lot about this game that involves: people, a grass pitch, two frames and leather ball.
We don't need to put managers, owners or players on a pedastal and pretend this is some sort of a complicated thing, it's not. Many jobs are complicated but football really isn't all that complicated. Certain aspects may be, like negotiations but football clubs wouldn't be the biggest companies on the stock market.* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Even if football is complicated and our knowledge is miniscule, that does not preclude us from getting things right occasionally.
We may not know a lot but we knew enough to know that Hodgson was dog**** from like the first month. Mr. M and couple of others ( not me) from day one predicted Balotelli was going to be a horrible signing.
Also we can pretty much shut down all discussions on that logic. "So what we got hammered 6-1 by Stoke. Why fume? Rodgers knows more than all of us."

I am guessing watching Football on the tele is a little bit different to playing it or managing a team at the absolute highest levels. I say this because so many of us have never actually taken part in any sport let alone the one we all love so much. I watch everything single game, including all the friendlies, I watch on average 5 to 6 games a week and have done for years. Whilst sure I can hold a conversation on football with most people, I would never profess to know how the game actually happens on the pitch or the training grounds. I completely disagree with you about football really not being that complicated, at the highest levels its science, its art, its tactical brilliance and its incredibly competitive. Equally running a football club is actually a highly challenging endevor, it has many many aspects, moving parts, product ranges beyond the team on the park .... Obviously this is just my opinion but seriously the way people talk about Rodgers and FSG sometimes makes me want to just put the kettle on and make a really nice cup of teaOriginally posted by The_weatherman View PostThis often gets bandied about regarding fans and in some instances may be true but often fans have watched about 3600 minutes of their own team per year and maybe something similar on other teams, in addition to reading hundreds of articles and blogs and statistical analysis plus some of us played or coached or been involved in other ways.

Let's just agree to disagree. I think a manager for example could be a good coach but a poor leader, i.e. he can coach players to a good level but fails to communicate with them or the manager could be lacking in certain human qualities etc. etc. I think that fans actually are becoming more and more educated but I'm not saying a fan can go on and manage or coach, but many of us are capable of offering an informed opinion on the game.Originally posted by False9 View PostI am guessing watching Football on the tele is a little bit different to playing it or managing a team at the absolute highest levels. This was on the Sky Sports website on their report about O'Driscoll joining us.
O'Driscoll has visited the club's Melwood training ground to take in some of the coaching sessions and his appointment is expected to be confirmed before Liverpool embark on a pre-season tour of Australia and Asia on July 12. The team report for pre-season training on Monday, July 6.
