Maybe. Id like to think that he's just a bit homesick and maturity should cure that. Maybe hes a pruppa geordie like an heets the mackems witha passion. That henderson better watch his back ayye.

Traore was a joke of a player yes. Smicer wasnt too bad, he could pass but that was about all he was good for. Cisse was our record signing, to be fair I didnt think much of him. Kewell was excellent when fit and Baros I actually liked. The thing is they seemed to work well as a team under Rafa. By performing I mean they got us to the champions league final. It did help we had better players to help get the results.

But yes, you're pretty much agreeing with me on Carroll. While they were our players we cheered them on, (except Traore who I never cheered for and wanted him gone gone gone), but knew if we could replace them we would do it instantly. Its how I see Carroll.

Lucas always looked good for the national team but dragged with us. I like to think it was because Benitez always played him too deep, plus he had a tendency to give away free kicks way more often then he should, which is what I think most of the flak he got came from. He's still a little dodgy with some tackles but he's fine. I'm still going to predict Carroll will be playing for Blackburn or someone 3 seasons from now, because Kenny will not sell him in the first couple years even if he isnt performing.

So much pressure on him tbf, the price was a killer, Chav fans even say now, when any lfc fan thanks them for the 50mill for flop Torres, that it does'nt feel so bad knowing we wasted 37mill of it on AC.

        edit: ******s!

I would only want to replace someone after we'd had long enough to make an accurate judgement on him. 14 games isnt enough.

Yeah. Far to early to make a judgement, same go's for Torres i suppose, he could still turn out to be a Chav legend, and AC could do the same for us.

Although obviously i hope Torres best days are long gone, and he fades away into obscurity.

thing is they paid 50m for a world cup, euro winning, world class striker who hasnt performed.
We paid 35m for a 22 year old ENGLISH kid with bags of potential.
If Carroll turns out to be a top class player at 27 and wins all the things for england that Torres has, do you think he would have the same market value as Torres?
You already know the answer to that so no real need to put a question mark.
What we (over?) paid for was potential. Right or wrong that is what these owners deemed ok to write the cheque for.

I just don't know tbh, ok we got 50mill for Torres, but we use that like an excuse in waiting should AC not come good..enough.

TBH, for AC...see Sturridge, Kenny could have paid 37mill for him say...young..english..potential, you could say it about lots of players, but either way it's an awful lot of money, and it was our money..because Chelsea had given it to us, and we spent the majority of it on Ac, which worries me, but not unduly, not gonna break the club or anything, but what i've seen inb AC does'nt equate to 37mill, just as it would'nt with Sturridge or Henderson or any young english player out there.

That's all. Hopefully he'll come good, or better than good, and all will be well.

dont get me wrong, he isnt worth 35m. for me 10-15m MAYBE 20m coz he's ****in english but what we signed was a player that could be here for 10+ years and if he reaches his potential then 35m in 2,3 years time will look a bargain.

Exactly. £35m is overpaying, but so was £27m for Rooney. Do you think the mancs would now want a refund? Would they ****.

If Carroll is here for 7+ years, and he will have proven to be worth the money.

Also very nice trying to deflect away from my main point.

There is also no way a crowd under 45k is louder then a crowd of 80k. Not possible.

I know of no other way.

What I was trying to say, in my sarcastic dickish way, is that Lucas proves nothing, other than sometimes players turn it around. Understandable retrospectively that bedding in to a new country and league can make a young player drastically under perform. However, the vast majority of players who are deemed **** by the popular consensus are in fact pretty ****, and do not become top top players for us. Using one example in Lucas (not even a particularly similar example) to suggest Carroll will follow the same path is speculative.

couldnt agree more craig. In fact if you look at inflation over the past 7 years and the prices of english players then imo, Rooney cost more.

But Rooney was the hottest property of the day. Was touted as the next big thing from a very young age. I don't think the comparison really holds.

there are a lot of "next big thing" players, and i think manc were simply lucky with that (like they are always).. and they overpaid him as well, but he was instant "hit" anyway.
