I think the stats are pretty clear that over the last two seasons, our results have been better when he has played. I may be wrong on that but I'm sure that's the case.

That's not to say it's not a valid opinion to think he could= be improved on, I however rate him very highly.

Iv seen some great defensive minded midfielders in my time supporting lfc....souness,didi,McMahon,masch....Lucas couldn't lace any of the aboves boots,just don't rate him,slow in possession n very clumsy tackler

I have to kind of agree to a point. Souness and McMahon I loved, yet they played a different role. They didn't just sit and mop up. They had so much more to their game than Lucas does. They were complete box to boxers. Didi and Lucas is a fair comparison and pre that injury last season against city, Lucas was immense. But since he's struggled to have much of an impact. A pre season will do him the power of good.

Sadly he is not the same player as before the injury and the question is if he ever will be as good as during Kenny's days.

And because of the injury he had during the Man City game at the start of the season, I'm giving him this season to settle down and find his groove, hoping for a full pre-season of confidence and knowledge that things are alright now medical wise.

We still are a much better side with him in it than without.
