That list shows we're often a soft touch and too easy to score against. You only have to watch us play - lost possession often results in us being wide open and hugely susceptible to the counter, dominating teams then going behind to their first shot on target etc. Soft-centered. It's an ongoing problem and one that is yet to be solved.
We've had that for a couple of seasons and I reckoned that was our biggest problem under Kenny. We are not really good enough at making the opposition play badly.
    Never knowingly optimistic

I think using cup games where we haven't played a first team is not worthwhile comparison.
I do - it's a squad game and Rodgers needs to be able to organise them into a solid, functioning and organised unit whether it's the first team or not.

It is a squad game, but you wouldn't expect the none first team to function as well as the first team. Especially when we lack quality in depth.

That team was good enough to beat Oldham, absolutely no doubt about that.

It's one thing to field that team in the league - but losing to Oldham should have been impossible.

I agree I should have, but I don't think organisation was the issue, poor individual play was far more of a concern in that regard.

To say it should have been impossible however is rather silly.

Don't think so - there was more than enough ability and experience to dick a team like Oldham. For all their pushing and kicking, we had enough (certainly up front) to beat them.

And you absolutely cannot blame Rodgers for certain aspects of that game, ie, Jones fumbling such a basic shot, the ref not giving any fouls against Oldham (like when Smith was all over our defenders everytime he left the ground) so while some of it is on him - a lot is on the players for simply underperforming.

All three of those are vital... but ONLY if they're fit. A fully fit Enrique is a massive boost against Walcott.

LFC seem to come out unfocused after the restart. There are goals against Man Utd, Oldham and Udinese that I can remember off the top of my head, and I'm sure there have been more conceded in those first 5 minutes after half time.

Its really infuriating, especially when they have been games that have been winnable or that we should have been pushing to compete rather than going further behind. The Udinese game was the worst, because we were all over them in the first half, only to lose concentration and concede stupid goals. (Coates....)

I'd like to think it was well planned out in advance although the timing looks off.
Everything smells of Rodgers being the main man, everything revolving through him from his resistance to a DoF to him taking training as well.

That's all well and good but what the **** does Pascoe do?
I've said this ever since he came with Rodgers I honestly think he's a yes man who adds nothing.
I get the impression if you disagree with Rodgers he doesn't like it.

Does anyone know what Pascoe's coaching qualifications are? I'll put it out there now before anyone answers it no matter what he has if he got the badges in Wales it counts for nothing.
It's well known within the game that it's much easier to get your coaching badges through the Welsh FA.
With that in mind I can't see the Welsh FA have ever failing a Welsh ex footballer taking his badges either.
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

Obviously Rodgers was in court, and clearly we don't know the ins and outs or why this happened - but on the face of it it doesn't look very good, does it?

Having read the tweet, That wasn't what I read previously,I still can't find where I read it but at least it backs it up.

In isolation its not great but when added to 3 days off before the villa game and Christmas day off before getting dry bummed by Stoke, It doesn't look good at all, fail to prepare and all that.

I'd rather reward the cunts when they have actually achieved something tangible in the game rather then string a couple of wins together and reward them in a way that has no chance of affecting preparation for the next game.

Brendan Rodgers issues warning to young Liverpool players

Fringe players failed to impress in 3-2 defeat to Oldham

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has told his young players to learn from Steven Gerrard or risk becoming a lot more familiar with League One.

The Reds boss gave a number of fringe players the chance to impress in yesterday's FA Cup fourth-round trip to Oldham but they were out-fought and slumped to an embarrassing 3-2 defeat.

Rodgers sent Gerrard on in the second half and the captain almost inspired a fightback at Boundary Park, hitting the bar with a fierce strike that would have drawn Liverpool level, but the damage had already been done.

Only three of the players Rodgers picked were older than 23 - Martin Skrtel, Luis Suarez and goalkeeper Brad Jones - and the Liverpool boss gave his young players a stark warning.

He said: "This is a harsh school. This isn't a club where a young player can come in and have lots of time to settle, this is one of the biggest clubs in the world, so you need to understand that every game you play is a cup final.

"And yesterday we had one or two that were too soft, simple as that. If you want to have a career at a club like this, you've got to be tougher than yesterday.

"It was only when Steven Gerrard and Stewart Downing came on that we played anywhere near the intensity and tempo that we would expect. When you get the opportunity, you have to take it. If not then it can be very difficult for you.

"Yesterday hurt, very much so. But as the manager it gives you even greater motivation to push on. You learn things about players because if we're going to progress we need to make sure we have a group that's hungry in every game.

"It's where the admiration of the likes of a Steven Gerrard and the Jamie Carraghers of this world comes from. You look at Steven yesterday - take away his quality, just his sheer enthusiasm for the game.

"He absolutely flipped the game on its head. It was fantastic but he does that every day of his life, and that's why he's a world-class player.

"Our young players, they won't have a greater role model to follow, and they're in pole position to learn, because they're seeing him every single day.

"If they're bright enough, they'll learn from him, and then hopefully they can be here for a long time.

"If not, they might find themselves playing in League One later on in their life, and they'll regret the opportunity they had of looking at a world-class player every day and learning."

Rodgers has boosted his squad already in the transfer window with the signing of striker Daniel Sturridge from Chelsea and Inter Milan playmaker Philippe Coutinho is expected to complete a move shortly.

The two clubs are understood to have agreed an £8.5million fee and Coutinho is expected to undergo a medical tomorrow, although the biggest hurdle for the Reds may be obtaining a work permit for the 20-year-old.

Rodgers was again reluctant to discuss the deal, and he acknowledged Liverpool's weaknesses will take a number of transfer windows to address.

He described yesterday's loss as a "growing pain" and said: "We know in this window it was never going to be fulfilled but I think yesterday probably highlighted that, when we do change the team around, that we don't quite have that bit of depth yet.

"It was another marker in the fact that we want to improve the group and that's something I'm sure we'll do over the coming windows.

"If we can add another player in this window, if not more, then great. If not then we'll look in the summer to keep the building process going."

jack robinson was dreadful, attitude wise so was wisdom, but what jack said to suarez when he didnt square the pass to luis when jack hit that shot that has not stopped going to the moon!!! he turned a mouthed a fu**k off, suarez is guilty of over doing it at times but for a young player with it all to do in his very little career, he should not be turning around and mouthing fu**k off to our only world class player!!!! just for that attitude i would either loan him out or ship him back to the reserve team.

players either have to wake up or go and get another job!!! they are paid silly amounts for kicking a ball around and some of them need to wake up, these players couldnt do a days proper work now!!!!

coates, jones, robinson, wisdom, henderson, sterling all had dire games and if we had a stronger squad id drop them for the arsenal game, they wouldnt even get on the buss!!!!

rodgers even stated that liverpool improved when gerrard and downing came on, gerrard yes he made us better, but give over downing did nothing, he never got a cross on targett, he never does anything, he runs then stops then pass it of to another team make, he never beats a man, he is kack, id drop him but we dont have anoy one else?

Have you ever played competitive football?

Players swear at each other constantly. I was captain - before I got sacked - and I got told to **** off all the time after I'd bollocked someone during a game.

Likewise, in teams when I wasn't skipper, I told the captain and others to **** off - it happens.

Admittedly at the time I was swearing at Robinson too - not for swearing at Luis but for wasting a good opportunity. But him swearing at Suarez is a total non-story.
